How the audio is made

Built to meet you
where the day is.

Under the voice in every session there's a quiet sound bed. Two tones, slightly apart, one in each ear, that your brain hears as a single slow pulse. It's called binaural audio, and it's designed to invite your brain waves to slow down and follow that rhythm.

As your mind shifts out of busy, everyday thinking and into a calmer, more relaxed state, you become more open to what you're hearing. That's the state where the suggestions in each session can really land, instead of being argued with.

Come back to it night after night and you're practising a new response to the urge: notice it, pause, choose something else. Habits are learned, and with repetition they can be relearned. That's the rewiring every session is built around.

At night the pulse runs low, down where the body drifts toward rest, and eases you toward sleep. In the morning it runs higher, up where attention sharpens, so you come out awake and set for the day rather than heavy.

Best with headphones. It still works without them.

Streaks and progress

You've never been able
to tell if it's working.

Some weeks feel worse than where you started, and you can't say if that's real or just the bad days being loud. So you drift, because there's nothing to stay for.

Trich Reset counts every day you check in, not only the clean ones. Streaks earn badges and milestones, and after a few weeks you can see the actual shape of it: the direction, the pattern, the hard days that passed anyway. Progress you can see is progress you can stay with. That is the whole reason the tracking is there.

A hard day still counts. The number never drops to zero.

A hair pulling tracker app

Capture the moment
in seconds.

You know how this usually goes. The tracker app that turns logging into homework, so by week two you have quietly stopped opening it.

Here it is a few taps. Where you were, what was going on, how strong it was, and you are out again. Quick enough that you'll still be doing it in March.

The faster it is, the longer you keep doing it.

The Learn page

Pulling isn't
one thing.

Some people pull for the feel of it. Some when a certain thought shows up. Some to take the edge off boredom or stress. Some barely notice their hand has moved. Most people are more than one of these, and that is normal.

Three modules, 17 short reads, plain enough to get through on a bad night.

  • Why it happens. Where pulling comes from, and why willpower was never the thing that was missing. The ground the rest of it stands on.
  • Map your patterns. The SCAMP model. Five domains, one profile, the map your tools are chosen from. A short questionnaire walks you through which ones are yours.
  • Regrowth and self-image. Caring for what grows back, hair confidence, and the way you see yourself while you wait.

The Stillness Protocol

Longer sessions,
built stage by stage.

You already know the willpower version doesn't hold. Hair pulling is a nervous system doing a job, not a character flaw. The Stillness Protocol is the part of the app built on that: longer guided sessions, made for coming back to night after night over weeks and months. Every stage does a specific piece of work, in a deliberate order, drawing on the published work of people who have spent their careers on this.

  • Habit Reversal Training (Azrin and Nunn). Awareness first, then changing the setup around the behaviour, then a competing response. The most researched behavioural approach for pulling.
  • The ComB model (Charles Mansueto, Suzanne Mouton-Odum). Maps why a given person pulls across sensory, thought, emotion, movement and place, then works each one.
  • Acceptance and Commitment work (Douglas Woods, Michael Twohig). Added to the behavioural core so an urge does not have to be won or lost.
  • Subtype research (Jon Grant). Sensory, low-awareness and impulsive styles of pulling each need a different response.
  • Self-compassion research (Kristin Neff). Shame keeps the cycle going. Self-kindness lowers it.
  • Polyvagal theory (Stephen Porges). Pulling is the nervous system regulating its state. Shift the baseline and the pull is needed less.
  • The TLC Foundation for BFRBs. A leading nonprofit for hair pulling and related behaviours.

Trich Reset draws on this published work. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the researchers or organisations named.

The small things that
keep you coming back.

  • Under a minute.

A daily check-in that's genuinely quick. Low friction is the whole promise. If it took longer you wouldn't do it, and neither would we.

  • Quiet celebrations of real wins.

Badges and milestones for the things that actually moved. A week tracked. A hard day you got through. The first month behind you. Small, real, and yours.

  • Delete everything, any time.

Private by design. No contacts, no location, and your data is never sold. Photos are only ones you choose to add, kept private to your account. Deletion is a button in the app, not an email you have to send.

  • Always growing.

The private regrowth photo tracker is already in, so you can watch your hair come back. Next up: photo journaling and new meditations. The app is alive and being worked on.

Trichotillomania app cost

$199.99 a year.
No surprises at the door.

For $16.67 a month, you get a calmer way through every urge, a clear picture of your own pattern, lessons that explain why it happens, and a meditation library that keeps growing. Choose your plan in the app once your account is set up.

This is the app built for hair pulling, start to finish. Not a general wellness app with a setting for it. $199.99 for a year works out to $16.67 a month, and you have almost certainly spent more than that on things that didn't hold.

Google Play shows the price in your local currency. Want to hear it first? There's a full meditation playable further up this page.

From people using it

My favourite part of the app is the Learn page. Understanding the triggers and the different types has helped me recognise what my triggers are. Now when I'm sitting on the couch I can catch myself before I'm about to do it. Understanding my condition has helped me so much. So, so, so happy with this app. Thank you. Yes, would recommend.

Ebony L.
  • Love this app so much, it's helped a lot. Can you hurry up and bring the photo page please? My hair's already starting to grow back and I wish I could see the progress. Yes, would recommend.

    Isla S.
  • I loved the meditations. Thanks for the app. Yes, I would recommend.

    Chase K.
  • I feel so calm and relaxed listening to the meditations. It's helped me a lot. I'm so grateful I found something that doesn't cost thousands of dollars for the same thing. I've been consciously aware of my habit now for 6 months and it's helped me so much. Yes, I would recommend this app.

Open the app and press play. Trich Reset has guided meditations and short audio resets designed for the moment an urge arrives, so there's something to do with the minute instead of only trying not to pull. You can log the urge afterwards in a few taps.

Yes. Trich Reset is built for trichotillomania and hair pulling, not filed as one condition among many in a dropdown. The meditations, the logging, the Learn page and the streaks are all made for people who pull.

The app is designed for hair pulling, but the meditations, urge logging and check-ins are built around urges generally, so many people use them for skin picking and other body-focused repetitive behaviours too.

The meditations use an AI voice. It's calm and even, not robotic, and it doesn't have the flat tell most people expect. The full meditation on this page is the same voice, so you can hear it before you decide anything.

Guided meditations and short audio resets, with new ones added every month. Urge and pull logging. Daily check-ins. Streaks with badges and milestones. The Learn page: three modules and 17 short reads covering why pulling happens, mapping your patterns with the SCAMP model, and regrowth and self-image.
